In 2017, the American Society of Marine Artists will presenting the second National Marine Art Conference (NMAC) in beautiful Mystic, CT.

In addition, the Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic, CT will be presenting the final venue for the ASMA 17th National Exhibition in the Rudolph Schaeffer Gallery at Mystic Seaport, and will host a special Artist Reception on Friday evening, October 20, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m.   The exhibition will remain on display in the Gallery through January 26, 2018.

The Society has once again, secured an amazing lineup of the nation’s premier authorities on maritime art and history.  We will offer technical art lectures, demonstrations, share knowledge and expertise through plein air painting, and share special tips we use in our various mediums.  Our keynote speaker will be ALAN GRANBY of Granby-Hyland Antiques, who will give a presentation on some of the finest marine artworks from private collections around the world.

The Society has contracted our official lodging through the Inn at Mystic, whose beautiful grounds encompass nearly 14 acres, offering lovely waterfront views from their property. The Inn has a restauarant and Bar onsite (Harbour House) that is open for Breakfast and Dinner during the fall. They also have a nightly Happy Hour from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.  The property also includes a lovely Mansion that is used for weddings and special occassions.  There is an expansive covered terrace area, which overlooks the waterfront, along with a permanent year-round teneted area for various functons, which will be used by our group for a portion of the conference.

The hotel is located just 1 mile from Mystic Seaport.  Regular rooms are available for $139 per night plus tax, and Deluxe rooms are available for $159 per night plus tax.  All rooms come with complementary Continental Breakfast each morning. The hotel will offer these special rates from Monday night October 16th through Monday evening October 23rd.  When booking your reservation, the hotel will charge your credit card for one night of your stay plus tax to hold the reservation. Individuals are required to cancel room reservations by 3 p.m - at least 72 hours in advance of arrival date, to avoid a charge including one night's room rate plus tax.  To cancel your room, please call the hotel directly at; (860) 536-9604.    Please notify Daven Anderson at (314) 241-2339 or Kim Shaklee at (303) 654-1219 if you try to book a reservation and the hotel rooms are filled.  We will try to assist you.  Once our reserved rooms have been filled, we will attempt to locate an additional block of rooms at another nearby hotel in the area.  Please book early as that is peak time in New England, and other room rates will be higher.

    INDIVIDUAL RESERVATIONS & DEPOSITS

Individual reservations must be made on or before September 18, 2017 at 3 p.m. - after that time, all unsold rooms will be released and sold to the public at the normal rates of the season at that time.
