The ANCHOR to WINDWARD
fundraising campaign
In sailing, to anchor to windward is an anchor set in the direction that the wind is coming from. This helps secure the vessel in dangerous conditions.
ASMA has created the Anchor to Windward fund to help us weather unforeseen difficult financial times in the future. This fund provides us with a steady anchor so that we can continue to provide a meaningful and rewarding experience to our members.
All the members of our board have contributed to the fund, because we all believe in ASMA’s mission.
Your donation is a tax-deductible charitable contribution.
Please donate to the Anchor to Windward fund to keep ASMA strong.
If you would prefer to donate by mailing a check, please mail it alongside a donation form.
The tax benefits for those who have a Required Minimum Distribution from an IRA:
For those members that are age 70½ or greater, you may consider a Qualified Charitable Distribution. This means that your IRA provider directly transfers money to the American Society of Marine Artists. You don’t pay income tax on this distribution.
If you are age 73 or older and need to take Required Minimum Distributions, your donation can be counted toward satisfying your minimum distributions for the calendar year. The distribution does not get treated as income to you, reducing the risk of entering a higher tax bracket.
