Jerry Smith, ASMA“Harbor Tones”Acrylic, 20” x 28”
Working boats and secluded harbors always draw me in. I like to head out in the late afternoon with my camera and sketchbooks, and while almost everything is highly paintable during this brief period of twilight, it is especially rewarding to encounter the right place at the right time. The inspiration for “Harbor Tones” came from the flat, grassy foreground leading to the boats and lobster shacks catching the evening sun. The painting was done with layers of acrylic on gessoed museum board.
