United States Berth Day"

Oil, 16” x 30”

The luxury liner SS United States is shown being maneuvered by several Moran Towing Company tugs into her berth at Philadelphia, PA, July 1996, after having just been towed overseas from Turkey. The ship had been sold to the Turkish government for use as a floating hotel/entertainment complex, but plans fell through and she was purchased by a NJ real estate magnate and brought into the port of Philadelphia, where she has been idle ever since and awaits a decision on her fate.
