Native Oyster

Oil, 18” x 27”

Two artist friends and I searching for seascape material in late morning found the same at the small port of Southbend, Willapa Bay on Washington’s Pacific coast. This painting depicts a large workboat named Native Oyster with a late-morning sun behind the boathouse, casting a beautiful soft edge shadow on the background foliage, and then turning hard-edged on the boat. This excited me enough to finish the work in the studio.
