“Fluidity”

Bronze, 22”H x 15” W x 18”D

This sculpture, “Fluidity”, was inspired by my passion for the sea and the animals that inhabit it. Marine animals possess a movement that is challenging to capture as a sculpture. The octopus, to me, is one of the world’s most elegant and fascinating creatures. It has an almost limitless range of flexibility and beauty that makes it a true pleasure to convey in bronze. After finishing the original in clay, I cut the sculpture in 25 separate pieces and cast each section in bronze. Next I reassembled the sculpture and finished with a patina. The patina is a combination of different chemicals that give the sculpture a sense of being under the water and show the refraction of the light under the water.
