Debra Nadelhoffer

“Shallows”

Oil, 24” x 30”

This painting was painted in an impressionistic style, loosely suggesting shadow play on grasses and cattails in the shallow end of a pond. The water reflected the blue sky of this winter day, and provided the perfect color to complement the yellows and oranges in the grasses. Trees in the distance were pushed back to give the pond more depth and a high horizon line, making the foreground grasses and water the feature of the painting.
