Ann Mohnkern, ASMA“West Point Lobster Pound”Oil, 16” x 24”
Seeing the shoreline from a kayak lets you consider the underneath of things. I love exploring this way, looking at the world from a different vantage point. Reflections turn into abstract patterns. Life below the tideline reveals itself. This painting is of a commercial lobster dock in Phippsburg, Maine. While it seems to be abandoned during most of the day, it teems with activity in late afternoon as returning lobster boats cue up to exchange their day’s catch for tomorrow’s bait.
