“Reflecting On Reflections, the Isaac H. Evans

Oil, 20” x 30”

Rather than portray more of the Isaac H. Evans, I chose to provide the viewer with only a small clue rather than the entire boat to add a bit of mystery. I was attracted to the contrast between the abstract images of the water reflections and the realism portrayed in the hull and the “Push Boat” behind it. One can view the abstract and realism all in the same painting. The Isaac H. Evans was originally an oyster dragger on Delaware Bay. She was built in 1886 and is 65’ L.O.D., 95’ overall and schooner rigged. She came to Maine in 1971 and is part of the Windjammer Fleet in Rockland,
Maine.
