Lisa Horrigan, ASMA“Waning Breeze”Oil, 18” x 24”
“Waning Breeze” depicts Watch Hill 15’s preparing to cross the finish line in Little Narragansett Bay, Watch Hill, RI. Bluebell is in first place. The day was damp and grey as is indicated by the foul weather gear worn by the sailors. The colorful sagging spinnakers and their reflections in the water drew me to the subject. The boat was first designed in 1922 by Nathaniel Herreshoff. In 1969 they were reproduced in fiberglass. There are 24 boats presently in Watch Hill and of one on the Chesapeake Bay.
