“Here She Comes”

Watercolor, 17” x 22”

A rendezvous had been planned to meet at the southern-most tip of the White Islands off the coast of Vinalhaven. We waited for hours tacking anxiously back and forth on Hurricane Sound. The clouds began to pile up in the western sky threatening bad weather to come. Where are they? Why are they so late? Finally, as the option to go into Carvers Harbor and anchor for the night was being debated, the sails and masts of the schooner appeared jauntily from behind the spruces around the backside of the White Islands. The cry “Here she comes!” went up and cheers from all were carried high and away with the wind.
