The American Society of Marine Artists and the Krasl Art Center in Saint Joseph, Michigan will proudly present the 2021 ASMA North Juried Regional Exhibition from October 9 - November 28, 2021. Please carefully read the information below before starting your submission.  Artists may submit two works for consideration.  All artists will receive a notification of acceptance or decline from Submittable.  Please check your online Submittable account by August 19, 2021 to view your notice.  If you receive a letter of acceptance from Submittable, ASMA will send a follow-up note to confirm which work will be included in the show by August 20, 2021.

PROSPECTUS

Submissions will be accepted online between June 11, 2021 and August 5, 2021.  All current ASMA members in good standing are eligible to submit up to two works for the ASMA North Regional Exhibition.  A fee of $50 is required for all submitting members.

Submissions must be quality, original art created within the last 5 years. Mediums accepted include oil, water media, acrylic, pastel, drawing, etching, engraving, scrimshaw and sculpture. Sculpture is limited to bronze, stone, or wood.  No cold cast bronze, ceramic or any type of stoneware is accepted.  No digital art or painting created by painting over paper or canvas printed photographs will be accepted.  All two-dimensional works must be professionally framed. No saw tooth hangers are allowed on paintings. Please submit professional images of your art (not cell phone images).  Works previously shown at the Krasl Art Center are not eligible.

Images must be 300 dpi, in a jpeg format, with the longest dimension being approximately 7 inches.  Please complete all requested information, including a brief description of the work (no more than 75 words), and a short biography (up to 150 words).  Information may be used for publicity purposes.

Work is considered “committed” upon entering.  No substitutions will be accepted. The Exhibition will be juried by three ASMA Fellows.  Notifications will be sent by E-mail on or before August 19, 2021 through Submittable.  Please be sure to check your Submittable account for the final status of your submission.  A seperate letter of confirmation will be sent from ASMA advising you of which work was selected.

Accepted work must be labeled with the artist’s name, address, phone number, E-mail, title and size attached to the piece prior to shipping.  Work must be shipped pre-paid and insured, using only a carrier (example – FedEx or UPS) that provides door to door delivery.  Please include a pre-paid return shipping label in an envelope with your work. Artists must retain a copy of all shipping information, Please record the size of your piece (including frame for 2-D works), the size of shipping container and the shipping weight for your work, in a readily accessible place.

Please use a high quality, reusable shipping containers, such as Air Float shipping boxes. Sculptures should be sent in a custom foam injected box, or the equivalent.  NO STYROFOAM PEANUTS! Cartons must be clearly marked: ASMA NORTH REGIONAL EXHIBITION on the outside of the box.  Poorly packed containers will not be accepted.  Send accepted work to: Tami Miller, Deputy Director, Krasl Art Center, 707 Lake Boulevard, St. Joseph, MI, 49085.  For further information regarding the Art Center, please visit their website at: www.krasl.org.

Accepted work must be shipped to arrive between September 14 - 21, 2021.  Art may be hand delivered to the Krasl Art Center during the same dates.  All artwork will be insured by the Art Center while in their possession.  No work may be sold during the show at the host venue. Any sale made as a result of the show must be handled directly between the artist and interested party.

An opening reception will be held for ASMA exhibiting artists and their guests at the Krasl Art Center on October 8, 2021, from 6 to 8:00 PM.  The Exhibition opens to the public on Saturday, October 9, 2021.  

Art will be returned to the artist after November 28, 2021, using the prepaid return shipping label supplied with the artwork.  If a return label was not be included in your box, it is the artist’s sole responsibility to send a prepaid label to the venue prior to the closing date without a reminder – NO EXCEPTIONS!  Hand delivered work must be picked up after November 28th, but no later December 7, 2021.  Please make arrangements for pick-up directly with the Krasl Art Center.
