Grab your painting gear and come join in the fun with multiple Fellows and Signature members at this plein air painting event! Onlookers welcome to survey the wide variety of styles, and techniques! *In the event of rain, all demonstrations will be moved to a classroom at the host Museum.*

Don Demers will be painting the motion of the sea and how a sailing vessel moves within it.

For many of us who paint, the first great challenge is where to start. In this demo Len will provide tips on seeking out a subject, developing thumbnail concepts, & creating concepts, & creating small oil color studies to develop into major paintings.

“What makes a strong painting and a strong portfolio?” Don Demers leads a discussion in the fundamentals of a successful painting, from concept to drawing, composition, techniques and the intangibles that make it a thoughtful work of art rather than a common picture. Several Fellows will share their unique insight as to what they look for when jurying exhibitions and annual portfolio reviews for advancement to Signature Member and Fellowship in the Society.
